On May 17th Pittsburgh-based artist Felipe Castelblanco facilitated a silkscreen workshop at the MLK Workers center. Artist and Laborers explored the technique as both an art form but also an entrepreneurial initiative.
Around 20 members of the center (including laborers and staff) participated in the workshop, learning the basics of silkscreen processes as well as building a DIY exposing units and experimenting with the creative reuse of other supplies. After the workshop, the MLK Workers Center is equipped with the necessary instruments and supply to continue the experimentation of silkscreen techniques. This workshop was possible thanks to the support of the Andy Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh, PA and the artist, whom donated the materials.
