Meet Selbyd! Originally de Guatemala, Selbyd began working as a day laborer with Voz at the beginning of this year. He had been living in Portland for a few years, but says he didn’t know the Worker Center existed until he was without a job, looking for a way to make a living. Now, he’s found not just work, but a community as well.

Regarding his experience with Voz, he says: “This is a good place to start from zero. Where one can establish themself and find a steady job. You can tell that the staff and volunteers are people that love what they do; you can see it on their faces. They’ve supported me a lot and they continue to support me now. It’s like a family here. When I’m here, I feel like someone’s listening to me”.
