About Us

Voz Labor Rights Education Project (“Voz”) is a worker-led organization that trains diverse day laborers and immigrants to improve their working conditions and protect civil rights through leadership development, organizing, education, and economic opportunities

Voz runs a community space in NE Portland, The Martin Luther King, Jr. Labor Center, a place built by and for day laborers. The workplace brings dignity and justice to the employment relationship between employers and workers by providing a safe, dignified and organized space for workers to search for work, guaranteeing a fair wage, monitoring labor and civil rights abuses, improving working conditions and recovering stolen wages. Within the framework of our new Gender Justice initiative, we are building a project especially for domestic workers so that they also have an organizational space within the workplace.
