Meet Lisandra! Lisandra is a worker who came to the United States from Cuba in December and has found a place to grow and learn at Voz. Through Voz, she has worked in house cleaning, moving, gardening, and excavation. But what she’s truly passionate about is cooking.

What motivates her? Her family, who pushes her to move forward, work hard, and be a better person.

Her message for those who don’t know Voz: “Voz es una gran ayuda para las personas como nosotros que llegamos sin trabajo, es una buena oportunidad para empezar. Aquí nos brinda mucha ayuda.” (In English: “Voz is a great help for people like us who arrive without a job; it’s a good opportunity to start. Here, they provide us with a lot of support.”) She also shares that by hiring through Voz, not only do you get help for your projects from hardworking workers, but you also get to meet new people from different cultures and backgrounds.

In the future, Lisandra dreams of more training, especially for women, in jobs like painting and drywall, to have more economic opportunities and be able to get ahead.
